Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi

  • Arrive in Tbilisi, the capital city.
  • Take a walking tour of Old Tbilisi: Explore the charming streets, visit the Narikala Fortress, Metekhi Church, and Sulfur Baths.
  • Rustaveli Avenue: Stroll along the main avenue for a mix of shopping, cafes, and Georgian architecture.
  • Dinner: Try traditional Georgian food like khachapuri (cheese-filled bread) and khinkali (dumplings).

Day 2: Tbilisi – Mtskheta Day Trip

  • Take a day trip to Mtskheta, the ancient capital of Georgia, just 20 minutes from Tbilisi.
  • Visit the Jvari Monastery and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (UNESCO World Heritage sites).
  • Return to Tbilisi and enjoy the evening at one of the local wine bars, as Georgia is known as the birthplace of wine.

Day 3: Tbilisi – Gudauri

  • Drive to Gudauri, a ski resort town in the Caucasus Mountains (2-3 hours from Tbilisi).
  • If it’s winter, enjoy skiing or snowboarding; if it’s summer, explore hiking trails and stunning mountain views.
  • Visit the Russian-Georgian Friendship Monument for panoramic views.
  • Overnight in Gudauri.

Day 4: Gudauri – Kazbegi

  • Drive to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) to see the famous Gergeti Trinity Church.
  • Hike or drive up to the church, set against the backdrop of Mount Kazbek.
  • Explore the beautiful surroundings of the Kazbegi National Park.
  • Stay overnight in Kazbegi.

Day 5: Kazbegi – Gori – Uplistsikhe

  • Head to Gori, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin.
    • Visit the Stalin Museum.
  • Continue to Uplistsikhe, an ancient rock-hewn town.
    • Explore the caves, tunnels, and ancient temples.
  • Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 6: Tbilisi – Vardzia

  • Early morning departure to Vardzia, a stunning cave monastery complex (4-5 hours drive).
    • Explore the caves and tunnels carved into the cliffs.
    • Visit the Vardzia Monastery and take in the scenic beauty of the area.
  • Overnight in the region or drive back to Tbilisi.

Day 7: Tbilisi – Wine Region (Kakheti)

  • Spend the day in Kakheti, Georgia’s wine region (about 1.5-2 hours drive from Tbilisi).
    • Visit the town of Sighnaghi, known for its picturesque views and wine cellars.
    • Explore the Bodbe Monastery and the Alaverdi Monastery.
    • Enjoy wine tastings at local wineries.
  • Stay overnight in the Kakheti region or return to Tbilisi.

Day 8: Tbilisi – Batumi

  • Take a morning flight or a 5-6 hour drive to Batumi, a seaside city on the Black Sea coast.
    • Explore the Batumi Boulevard along the sea.
    • Visit the Botanical Garden and the Ali and Nino Statue.
    • Explore the city’s mix of modern and traditional architecture.
  • Overnight in Batumi.

Day 9: Batumi – Prometheus Cave – Return to Tbilisi

  • Visit Prometheus Cave, an incredible limestone cave with stalactites and stalagmites (30 minutes from Batumi).
  • Explore the cave and take a boat ride through its underground river.
  • Return to Tbilisi (approximately 5-6 hours by car) in the evening.

Day 10: Departure from Tbilisi

  • Depending on your flight time, spend your last day in Tbilisi visiting any remaining spots, such as the Tbilisi Opera House, National Museum, or taking a walk along the Kura River.
  • Depart from Tbilisi International Airport

Tips for Travel:

  • Transportation: Georgia has good road infrastructure, but the roads in mountainous regions can be challenging. If you’re not comfortable driving, consider hiring a guide or taking public transport.
  • Currency: The local currency is the Georgian Lari (GEL).
  • Language: Georgian is the official language, but many people speak Russian and some speak English, especially in tourist areas.
  • Weather: Georgia has a varied climate, so pack accordingly for both the mountains and the coast.
