Day 1: Arrival in Tbilisi

  • Arrive in Tbilisi, Georgia’s capital city.
  • Spend the day exploring the city: walk around Rustaveli Avenue, visit Freedom Square, and stroll through Old Tbilisi with its charming narrow streets and colorful houses.
  • Enjoy a traditional Georgian dinner at a local restaurant, perhaps trying khachapuri (cheese-filled bread) and khorovats (barbecue).

Day 2: Tbilisi

  • Explore more of Tbilisi: Visit Narikala Fortress for panoramic views of the city.
  • Visit the Tbilisi Opera House, Sioni Cathedral, and Metekhi Church.
  • Explore the Georgian National Museum and relax at the Sulfur Baths in Abanotubani.

Day 3: Mtskheta (Day Trip from Tbilisi)

  • Take a day trip to Mtskheta, one of the oldest towns in Georgia (about 30 minutes from Tbilisi).
  • Visit the Jvari Monastery (UNESCO site) and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral.
  • Explore the charming streets and enjoy local Georgian dishes.

Day 4: Kazbegi (Stepantsminda)

  • Drive to Kazbegi (Stepantsminda) (3-4 hours from Tbilisi).
  • Stop at Ananuri Fortress and enjoy stunning views of the Zhinvali Reservoir.
  • Upon arrival, visit Gergeti Trinity Church located under the towering Mount Kazbek.
  • Stay overnight in Kazbegi.

Day 5: Kazbegi

  • Hike or take a jeep ride up to Gergeti Trinity Church for more breathtaking views.
  • If you’re up for it, take a hike in the surrounding mountains or visit the Gveleti Waterfall.
  • Return to Tbilisi in the evening.

Day 6: Uplistsikhe & Gori

  • Visit Uplistsikhe, an ancient rock-hewn town that dates back to the early Iron Age (about 1.5 hours from Tbilisi).
  • Afterward, explore Gori, the birthplace of Joseph Stalin. Visit the Stalin Museum and the Gori Fortress.

Day 7: Vardzia

  • Travel to Vardzia (about 3-4 hours from Tbilisi), an ancient cave monastery complex in the south of Georgia.
  • Explore the cave dwellings, churches, and tunnels of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Stay overnight in Vardzia or nearby town.

Day 8: Batumi (via Kutaisi)

  • Drive to Batumi on the Black Sea coast (approximately 5-6 hours).
  • En route, stop in Kutaisi, Georgia’s second-largest city. Visit Bagrati Cathedral and the Gelati Monastery.
  • Arrive in Batumi in the evening.

Day 9: Batumi

  • Explore Batumi’s charming streets, visit Batumi Boulevard along the Black Sea coast, and enjoy the Botanical Garden.
  • Take a ride up to the Ali and Nino statue for a panoramic view of the city.
  • Discover the Batumi Piazza and local cafes in the evening.

Day 10: Batumi to Mestia (Svaneti Region)

  • Travel to Mestia in the Svaneti Region (about 5-6 hours).
  • Svaneti is known for its unique tower houses and incredible mountain scenery.
  • Explore Mestia town and enjoy the stunning views of the Caucasus Mountains.

Day 11: Mestia and Ushguli

  • Take a day trip to Ushguli, a UNESCO World Heritage village. It’s one of the highest settlements in Europe.
  • Explore the ancient Svanetian towers and experience the remote beauty of this area.
  • Return to Mestia for the night.

Day 12: Zugdidi & Return to Tbilisi

  • On your way back to Tbilisi, stop by Zugdidi, visit Dadiani Palace, and stroll through the lush botanical gardens.
  • Continue your journey back to Tbilisi for the night.

Day 13: Wine Region – Kakheti

  • Visit the Kakheti wine region, known for producing some of Georgia’s finest wines.
  • Visit Telavi, the heart of Kakheti, and tour local wineries, such as Tsinandali Estate and Alaverdi Monastery.
  • Explore the charming villages of Sighnaghi (the “City of Love”) and enjoy panoramic views of the Caucasus Mountains.

Day 14: Departure

  • Spend the final day in Tbilisi, perhaps revisiting some favorite spots or shopping for souvenirs before your departure.

Tips for Travel:

  • Transportation: Georgia has good road infrastructure, but the roads in mountainous regions can be challenging. If you’re not comfortable driving, consider hiring a guide or taking public transport.
  • Currency: The local currency is the Georgian Lari (GEL).
  • Language: Georgian is the official language, but many people speak Russian and some speak English, especially in tourist areas.
  • Weather: Georgia has a varied climate, so pack accordingly for both the mountains and the coast.
